always liked these early new agey record covers, don't worry about the music though, its not very good.
this was a series of LPs on living love publications from the late 70s.
all revolving around Living Love center in Berkeley & Cornucopia in St. Mary, Kentucky (which was founded in 1977)
the teachings were mostly by this cult-ish leader below, Ken Keyes, Jr.

two posts in one day to make up for lost time...imagine pixellated space dust synclavier II sprinklings floating down from the far reaches of the galaxy.....these are the vibes i get from Don Robertson's ode to the universe 'Starmusic'. after a couple of years studying with morton feldman in new york, robertson made the incredible proto-new age album 'Dawn' in the late 60s. in the 70s and 80s he naturally gravitated to synthesizer music land and made several private press and hard to find tapes and albums. 'Starmusic' is a perfect soundtrack to Calvino's Cosmicomics. and then there is the requisite blasted into outer space treatment of Satie's Gymnopedie as a bonus. thanks to a very generous follower of the blog who sent this tape (and many others!) to me. enjoy enjoy!

this kind of falls into the post terry riley new music zone a little bit, but its a gorgeous LP with 2 long pieces. im happy to call it GOOD NEW AGE! side 1 is a luxurious, sparkly & floating piece for piano and delay systems. side 2 is a shimmering mass of 42 guitars. sustained slowly changing choral textures. i think i originally found this LP on the mutantsounds blog or someplace else on the net, however these mp3s have been specially remastered by yours truly. beautiful music, enjoy!!

HOLY MOTHER OF MUSIC! well...i have no idea how i missed out on this Doctor! wow....what we have here is a musical translation of the ancient Sri Yantra symbol. deep deep waves of drones. reminds me of Paul Panhuysen's 'A Magic Square of 5...' CD...this is very soothing. very mesmerizing. very dreamy. this guy has hundreds of CDs out there i think....sure will be more to come. enjoy!

"The SRI YANTRA consists of 9 triangles arranged very specifically and superimposed on top of one another. Dr. Jeffrey Thompson has translated this ancient Mandala symbol into a Sonic Mandala mathematically in two different ways. This CD was created for the Deepak Chopra seven-day workshop "Seduction of Spirit" held in San Diego, California in 1994. ok, its about time we started dipping into the vast waters of the new age/spiritual guru/cult leader scene here. kicking things off with an LP by Sri Chinmoy (who was famously worshipped by super guitarists John McLaughlin & Carlos Santana and more) there are 2 side long pieces here. first side is solo esraj zones. simple and floating and calm. side two features Sri Chinmoy's singing with harmonium/organ accompaniment. his vocals get pretty dissonant (i.e.: he's a little pitchy) with the harmonium, so its like new age Morton Feldman, but its actually quite a soothing side. a really nice record. included is a full scan of the booklet with meditation instructions and copious pictures of Sri Sri blissed out with his eyes rolled back into his head and stuff. enjoy!
